Words and Images

2013

Words and Images includes two series: a series of graphite drawings of landscapes with superimposed text, and earlier photographic works documenting phrases written directly into the landscape. The drawings are copies of photographs from Arizona Highway Magazines of the late 1960s and 70s.

“Trick or Treat” was created in response to an invitation to contribute to the Jamaica Flux Exhibition organized by the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning. The site-specific painting was done on the construction walls surrounding the First Reformed Dutch Church of Jamaica, which was being renovated into a performing arts space. The exhibition opened on Halloween.
